Chloé Faye Mini Cross Body Bag, Chloé Ready-to-Wear Spring Summer 2015, details
Once emails about Fashion Week start rolling in, I take it as my cue to go back and browse collections from the preceding Fashion Week so I can get a feel for the season that is immediately approaching. This time around, I'm more than happy to do it since this winter (which needs to end STAT) has been especially harsh, and I'm ready to do anything and everything to remind myself that yes, spring is coming. But the psychological respite doesn't stop there... After all, I can't say I've found it particularly difficult to tear my eyes away (aka avert my eyes!!) from what I've been seeing of the FW15 collections. Sights to be unseen, I have been left feeling disappointed and confused. After all, when times are hard, isn't fashion one of those creative outlets that should help counteract the low points and uplift us? Aha... not this time. The clothes from the Fall Winter 2015 collections are about as dreary as the front page of the newspapers. In fact, I found many of the collections to be painfully unfocused, and the pieces themselves? Well, they make me feel like I've slid into some sort of post-apocalyptic alternate reality where humans have been assimilated by the Borg and are taking fashion cues from the Klingons. And judging by the comments left by the viewing public under the various slideshows, it's safe to say I'm not alone in my opinion.
Anyway, now that I've got it out in the open that I think FW15 is generally a big F-A-I-L with a "Kick Me" sign stuck on its back, time to move on to pleasanter thoughts. (Like I said, looking back on SS15 is a welcome reprieve.)
I love love luuurrrvvvve the color palette of this Chloé collection. Maybe I need to get out more, but I think warm rich tones like this are so unexpected for the spring, and I think that's part of this collection's charm. And that's not the only thing that intrigued me- I would have never dreamed of accenting rust orange and mustard yellow with mauve. It looks so pretty, it gives me obsession envy (similar to when you stumble across a new Instagram account that really draws you in, and you feel like it is absolute branding perfection, and you envy it and obsess over it, and all you want to do is stare at it and study it.. more or less like that.) And the cross body bag- quirky and chic, it caught my eye immediately. Love it.
